JD Yates & Jay Wadhams WIN the 2010 BFI!!!

After a few years of trying, the cousins from Pueblo, CO finally got to taste the victory of winning one of team roping's most prestegious events!
The 33rd Annual Bob Feist Invitational Team Roping was held on Monday, June 21st, 2010. It's an exceptional roping with exceptional prizes, JD and Jay would like to thank everyone involved in hosting and running such a great event!
The BFI has stood for the best of the best & ropers, to prizes, spectators to sponsors & from the start. It hasn't always been easy. But Feist hasn't cut a corner yet.
"I'm so proud that the BFI is a roper's roping," Feist said. "I wanted this to be a great roping, but I didn't think I'd be the one who would take it to this height. I thought someone else would take it and run with it.
When I started the BFI, everyone said I was nuts. Now it's the ultimate. The talent pool's never been deeper at this roping than it is today. This is anybody's roping. So sit back and enjoy it. We wouldn't be here without you." ~ BFI Website
JD and Jay had a total time of 45.92 on six head (5 rounds and the short go) with an average of 7.6 seconds per run.
They were both mounted on seasoned horses. JD rode Cathys Dividend aka "Buster", owned by JD, who won the BFI Best Head Horse Award in 2005. And Jay was aboard Colonial Cal Dee aka "A", also owned by JD, who was voted the 2010 BFI Best Heel Horse!
The team was second high call coming in to the short go with a 39.37. They roped their steer in 6.55 and held on to the average through the end. Their time, 46.92 on six head is in the top 10 of all the BFI Champions through the years!
